Recap

Career day for Beagles' QB; Malfs eliminated

Their QB tied his own QFL record throwing five TD passes as the Mighty Beagles of Angedair (2-3) comprehensively beat igorz malfunxionistz (2-3) 42-28.

Even though already eliminated from playoff contention, the Beagles were highly motivated to bounce back from three consecutive losses including a crushing 34-0 shutout loss they had suffered to the Dicey Beasts the week before.

The Beagles' QB had a career day setting franchise records with 23 completions, 29 attempts, 244 yds and a rating of 141.2. He threw TD passes for 2, 24, 34, 43 and 7 yds and was not picked off.

With 12 TD passes for the season he has tied the Reds' QB's QFL single-season record with a game in hand.

In the middle of the first quarter, the Beagles opened the score and took the lead for good on their QB's first TD pass. He would go on to score three more TD passes before halftime with only a Malfs' FG in between.

When the Beagles' QB threw his fourth TD pass, a 43-yd beauty, to give his team a commanding 35-6 lead, the game was virtually over even though the Malfs struck back with back-to-back scoring drives capped by a 17-yd run and a 3-yd pass.

They even got the ball back but then turned over on downs inside their own 10 with less than five minutes left on the game clock setting up the Beagles' final TD.

The Malfs did know how to move the football as they actually outgained the Beagles and had 25 new first downs. They just needed too long to get their offense going. A mere FG scored in the first half was just too little to keep up.

The Beagles were in the red zone only twice but scored TDs on both occasions. In addition to their QB's three long TD passes, their RB added an 84-yd home run early in the third quarter.

The Malfs' RBs were their teams top performers finishing the game with 281 yds and a pair of TDs. Their QB reached a milestone having surpassed the QFL single-season-record mark held by the duffeldoffel's Reds' QB by 11 yds with a game in hand.

With their second win of the season, the Beagles have good chances to be named "most improved team". They have won twice as many games as last season (1-5 as SimKonville Fraggles) and they still have a chance to finish the season .500.

Like the Beagles, the Malfs will miss the postseason for the second time in as many seasons but they might both be eligible to play in the QFL all-star game again as the other three teams from their division are all likely to make the playoffs.
