Recap

Reds enjoy their first 2-0 start

duffeldoffel's Reds (2-0) remain unbeaten at home after defeating the Mighty Beagles of Angedair (1-1) by a score of 43-7 at Stanley Park.

A week after beating the Drinkers by a QFL-record 37-point margin in their season opener, the Beagles suffered their highest defeat in franchise history. They were outgained by only 19 yds but they converted none of their 12 third downs and never reached the red zone. Their only score came on a 29-yd TD run early in the fourth quarter when trailing by 40 points.

Even though their QB threw for a career-low 122 yds and they had their second-lowest output in rushing offense and total offense, the Reds dominated the score thanks to their defense and special teams. The Reds had TD drives for 78, 45 and 2 yds. They had drives for 21, 21, 13, 5 and 11 yds resulting in field goals and their special teams added a 60-yd punt-return TD.

With four of their five takeaways, the defenders gave their offense excellent field positions at the opponents' 22, 31, 34 and 2-yd line. The offense scored 20 points off of these turnovers including their first TD in the middle of the first quarter, an 8-yd TD pass.

The Reds' RBs scored multiple TDs for only the second time in franchise regular-season history.

The Reds' kicker connected on five-of-six attempts including a 50-yarder to open the score and a QFL-record 59-yarder with the final play of the first half. After only two games, he has already scored eight field goals, five FGs shy of the QFL single-season record.

While the Beagles' RBs averaged respectable 5.9 yds per carry and their only score, their QB completed only seven passes for 41 yds and had four of his 22 attempts intercepted. He finished the game with a 1.5 passer rating, the second-worst in QFL history (1.5 points better than last year against the Reds).

The defending QFL champions enjoy their first 2-0 start in franchise history but also the Beagles, holding a 1-1 record after week 2, have improved in that department compared to last season.
