Regular-season game: Warriors blow out Silentknights again (15 November 2011)

Season II, week 1: Prussian Warriors 40, silentsound's Silentknights 17 (Final)

Defending Gothic Division champions Prussian Warriors have opened the season with a comprehensive 40-17 win over silentsound's Silentknights at the Silent Field Stadium.

The 'Knights took the lead twice in the first half but during the final 39 minutes, the Warriors scored 33-3 points (resembling the final score of last season's meeting) handing the 'Knights another blowout.

The Warriors O-line paved the way to victory. They allowed no sack and gave their QB enough time to complete 14-of-20 for 258 yds and a couple of TDs. Their RBs racked up 213 yds and four TDs behind their line. Their defenders registered four sacks tying the franchise record set last season against the same opponent.

The 'Knights had a promising start into the game driving 80 yds for a touchdown with the opening possession capped by a 9-yd TD run. Due to a 15-yd penalty against the Warriors during the extra point, the 'Knights got to kickoff from the 50-yd line but they failed to recover their own onside kick.

The Warriors replied with a 65-yd scoring drive during which their QB completed a 48-yarder to the 'Knights' 4-yd line. A penalty and three plays later, the drive was capped by a 1-yd TD plunge.

Early in the second quarter, the 'Knights took advantage of an interception. Starting from their opponents' 37, the 'Knights needed nine plays to reclaim the lead on a 3-yd TD pass.

Only 1:24 minutes later, the Warriors scored on a 76-yd run but missed the extra point. Another minute later - with 6:48 left in the first half - they got the ball back after picking off the 'Knights QB and then covered 35 yds to drive for the go-ahead 18-yd TD pass. Their two-point-conversion attempt was not successful but the Warriors more than made up for the missed try-afters by adding yet another TD before halftime when they ran the ball in from 4 yds out to make it 26-14.

The 'Knights kicker converted a 29-yd field goal with no time left to cut their deficit to nine points but two early Warriors TDs in the third quarter destroyed their hopes for a comeback. With the third play of the opening possession of the second half, the Warriors QB completed a 53-yarder to the 5 from where he found a receiver for a TD on the next play.

The Warriors got the ball back quickly after recovering a 'Knights fumble, and their QB completed another deep pass to set up a TD, a 57-yarder to the 1-yd line from where a RB dived into the endzone. For the remaining 24:12, the Warriors administered their lead. The 'Knights had two more trips into the red zone but turned the ball over on a lost fumble and on downs respectively.

The 'Knights QB threw for 215 yds and a score while their RBs ran for 210 yds and a TD. The 'Knights had a total of eight fumbles even though they lost only two of them.

The Warriors now lead the series against the Silentknights 2-0 having outscored the opposition 73-20. The Warriors stretched their regular-season winning streak to six games remaining undefeated on the road in their franchise history.
