Beasts win triple-digit gameThe Dicey Beasts (3-2) put the league's no. 1 offense on display but also the Lübeck Bay Seagulls (2-3) contributed significantly to an incredible 100-point, 13-touchdown game. The Beasts' QB threw for 312 yds and their offense registered 34 new first downs, both QFL records, as the Beasts beat the Seagulls 58-42.
The Beasts won the game in the second and third quarter when they scored 48-14 points. After leading 31-28 at halftime, the Beasts scored on each of their third-quarter possessions to storm ahead 55-28. The Seagulls struck back with two fourth-quarter TDs but their deficit had grown too large to overcome.
The Beasts opened the score on their opening drive capped by a 6-yd run. Their RBs finished the day with 219 yds and four TDs. The Seagulls struck right back when the Beasts decided to go for an onside kick. The Seagulls not only recovered but also returned the kick 40 yds into the end zone.
Late in the first quarter, the Seagulls took their only lead taking advantage from a short field after a blocked punt. The Seagulls' QB threw an 8-yd TD pass on 4th-and-1. He finished the game with 12-of-16 for 183 yds and two TDs.
Early in the second quarter, the Beasts scored two quick touchdowns taking advantage of a fumbled kickoff return in between to reclaim the lead for good.
The Beasts' QB completed 20-of-27 including three TD passes, and their RBs ran for 219 yds and four scores. The league's no. 1 pass rush contributed five sacks to the Beasts' win.
With this win, the Beasts remain in full control of their own playoff destiny heading into their regular-season finale against zugschefz dieselz. Even if they lose, they may still make the playoffs, if frontmodes Kobras (against silentsound's Silentknights) and MoRe's Moles (against the SimKonville Fraggles) lose as well and the Seagulls win (against the Prussian Warriors).
The Seagulls need a great deal of help to make it to the postseason. Of course, they need to beat the Warriors but they also need losses for the Kobras and Moles and a Beasts' win over the dieselz.
